Friends of The Seattle Public Library Book Sale

For any who may be interested, the Friends of The Seattle Public Library Book Sale is happening this weekend. This is a great place to get popular used books. The amount of wear on the books varies greatly, but the prices are amazing. I especially love buying children's picture books there--since they are so inexpensive, I don't mind if my well-intended children tear a page or two as they "read" to themselves. Check out the info at http://friendsofspl.org/booksale.aspx.

WATER STORAGE DRUMS

i have been shopping for water-storage drums for our family and was surpised at how expensive they are ($79 for a 55-gallon drum at Emergency Essentials). but i learned from a family in our ward that Allan Reckling in the Bellevue 7th Ward can get the 55-GALLON drums for only $25 each! when i called to order some yesterday, he said he's placing the order in 2 weeks! so if you're like me, and you don't have your water storage . . . this is a GREAT DEAL!

Safeway Deals

Thanks Kristen D. for this info: This month two of the items we have been challenged to add to our food supply is Chili and Oil. Safeway is having great deals on both. If you buy 10 chili it comes to .75 cents each. An even better deal is the oil, if you buy 10 or more it comes to 2.50 each. If you don't need 10 consider going in with someone, this is usually 6.00 dollar oil.
Also in looking through there add hunts spaghetti sauce is .75 cents if you buy 10, and refried beans are also .75 cents if you buy 10. These Deals will end on Tuesday night. (March 24)

Safeway Pasta

This deal is really only good for the next 4 hours or until Safeway closes...but it's a GREAT one! Pasta is on sale at Safeway. Barilla brand is 1.00 a box, which is a great deal if you prefere that brand...an even better deal is the Ronzoni brand, it is on sale for 1.25 a box, but if you buy 10 or more you get .50 cents off a box which brings it down to .75 cents a box, there is a coupon above the Ronzoni pasta for .50 cents a box. You can take as many of these as you need, and the pasta comes to .25 cents a box. NOT TOO SHABBY!

Coupons

So one of my goals in life is to be one of those people who is able to save a ton by shopping with coupons. The problem is I start, get overwhelmed and quickly give up. Today I stumbled across this site: http://theobsessiveshopper.net/. She gives a great way to start saving with coupons without getting completely overwhelmed. If you click on the top tab where is says system, she will lay it out for you. I am excited to give it a shot. Another site that doesn't have to do with shopping but helps with emergency preparedness is: http://foodstoragemadeeasy.net/, both are great resources. I would also like to add that I am no expert on all of this, so if any of you out there ever want to add anything to this blog, please, please let me know and I will either post it for you or set you up to blog on this site! Happy hunting!

Safeway

Safeway, for the next week have spaghetti sauce jars (Ragu brand) for $0.99 each. I have been waiting for months for spaghetti sauce to drop to this price. I also just bought a ton of coupons off ebay for "Buy a 26 oz. Ragu, get a free pasta (up to $1.50)" and accidentally bought more than I actually need (I have 40 extra coupons). I paid $0.40 each for them. So if anyone wants to buy some, I'll sell them for what I paid for them. This is a smokin' deal...to get a jar of spaghetti sauce and box of pasta for $0.99 (plus 40 cents if you include the cost of the coupon). 10 pantry meals for $13.90!

They also have 64oz apple juice (100% juice) for $0.99 too! Also, the entertainment book has a $5 off $50 purchase for Safeway
